This past weekend I was able to photograph a charitable event event for a great cause. The High Fives Foundation and Biking For a Better World put on the 2011 Squaw Valley Prom. High Fives Foundation is a Lake Tahoe-based non-profit organization dedicated to raising money and awareness for athletes who have suffered a life-altering injury while pursuing their dream in the winter action sports community. Biking for a Better World (BBW) is a 501(c)(3) California Non-Profit Corporation, established 2006. “We use the power of pedaling to bring bicycles to people who need them. Through charity bike tours, day rides, and annual fundraising events, we raise awareness and funds for communities in need of bicycles to improve their quality of life. We share our passion for the bike, inspiring and enabling others to ride. In essence, we transform the act of pedaling into a force to make the world a better place”. The Prom has a seven year history and this year the theme party went with a 007 theme in James Bond fashion. To entice guests of the Prom to be in their best James Bond style attire, a costume contest was incorporated. Three categories were available for the contest: Best Bond, Best Bond Villain, and Best Bond Girl. All participants have the ability to win some new ski gear and some loot. The photos are now live for all participants to view so go vote and pick your favorites for the contest. There were some great costumes and some people got pretty creative with their attire. I enjoyed seeing of the costumes that were inspired by the Sean Connery era. I think I’m going to be putting my votes in for those who were able to pull off those costumes well. I’d like to thank Roy Tuscany, the president & program director for this opportunity to raise money for a great cause.
