The past couple of months in Tahoe has been pretty grim. We haven’t had any significant snowfall amounts since the Christmas holiday. A few weeks ago Andy Finch and I decided that a quick surf mission down to San Francisco would help ease the no powder syndrome that has been plaguing our home for quite some time. Swell was looking good with sunny skies, so the search was on. For this trip, we ended up having a new member to the crew, Asher Eisenpress, direct from Oahu, HI. Through the channels of mutual friends, Asher joined in on the adventure and showed us how da boyz from Hawaii handle cold California surf. He adjusted quite well to wearing all the extra rubber and showed us Cali kooks how to properly dominate the surf. Andy and I were thoroughly impressed with his skills! While down in SF, we got to catch up with longtime friend/my former assistant & apprentice Zak Shelhamer. Zak has now moved on to some great things like being an Instagram Superstar and GoPro camera wizard. It’s nice to see him doing well for himself. We were able to hang out for a bit and get a surf at Ocean Beach. He was also kind enough, to furnish us with some crash space for our 24 hour journey. We surfed Ocean Beach SF, Rockaway Beach in Pacifica & The Princeton Jetty in Half Moon Bay CA in our 24 hour time frame. Three good sessions and the arms felt like dead weight by the end of the trip.
Here are a few photos I was able to snap on film for a little documentation.
